Open Satellite Data Platform :

A digital platform that provides access to satellite data and images available in the Civil Aviation Authority and provides them to various beneficiaries, whether researchers and specialists or at the level of government institutions and private sector companies, to enhance the use and analysis of spatial data, which expected in the future to create specialized jobs related to data analysis.

The idea of the satellite data platform project:

  • Establishing an open source satellite data platform, to unify the efforts of the entities and sectors that need this data and maximize its benefits as fuel for the digital economy, as well as support in decision-making and the planning process in a more accurate manner. The platform aims to use the data available to the Civil Aviation Authority and make it available through the platform to various potential beneficiaries.

Project goals:

  • Previewing the satellite image directly linked to the ground station of the Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Easy search for satellite images and reduce required periods for that.
  • Optimization of available direct, recent, and archived data.
  • Providing statistical reports and services that facilitate the decision-maker to make appropriate decisions.
  • Providing analysis and processing tools that suit user requirements.
  • Consolidate efforts in requesting satellite data
  • Promoting the growth of the digital economy by developing private sector businesses and SMEs benefiting from the project.

The importance of the project:

  • Access to locally collected and managed satellite imagery is strategically important, in terms of providing reliable and up-to-date information to government and private entities.
  • A source of information for scientists, university students, and entrepreneurs who can use it for research and education.
  • Stimulating the sector in the field of using and analyzing space data, which will lead to the creation of specialized jobs related to data analysis in various industries and sectors (oil and gas, agriculture, urban planning, insurance, transportation, environment, renewable energy, and other sectors).
