Executive Program for AI and Advanced Digital Technologies:
In October 2022, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology launched the Executive Program for AI and Advanced Digital Technologies to enhance the use of these technologies in Oman. The program aims to build a competitive advantage for Oman in the fields of AI and advanced technologies by fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, developing local capacities, and improving the quality of government services. Additionally, it aims to achieve comprehensive development across various economic sectors through several key axes. The first axis focuses on enhancing productivity in targeted sectors for economic diversification, emphasizing the application of AI in fields such as agriculture, energy, and transport. The second axis pertains to developing human capacities and startups by providing comprehensive training programs to enhance local skills. Regarding the third axis, the program seeks to adopt AI in essential sectors such as education and health to improve the quality of provided services. Finally, the fourth axis focuses on the governance of AI applications by creating a regulatory environment that supports the effective use of these technologies. This program is part of the digital economy aimed at achieving Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to enhance and increase the contribution of this sector to gross domestic product, reflecting the government's commitment to promoting innovation and sustainable development in the country.
