The Information Technology Authority (ITA) represented by Digital Society Development Division, celebrated recently, in the Middle East College, Multipurpose Hall, the graduation of 82 trainees from different specialized ICT training programs. with the presence of Dr. Salim Bin Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA and ITA’s officials and employees.
On this occasion, Eng. Omar Bin Salim Alshanfari, Diputy CEO for Operations at ITA, commented, “We are delighted to witness the graduation of this number of jobseekers who have completed intensive specialized IT training programs aimed at sharpening their skills to prepare them for the job market.”
“These programs included the training of 46 graduates in mobile apps development who have successfully developed 21 mobile apps serving different business and social purposes, and 12 trainees who were sent abroad to work with leading tech companies to further improve their practical skills as part of IT Rangers Program as well as celebrating the successful graduation of 24 government employees and jobseekers who have undergone specialized training in various IT fields within Najih Program. I’m sure that those graduates will be a valuable addition to any organization they join,” he further added.
“ITA is committed to support the Omani youth and encourage them to innovate and gain knowledge in various ICT fields. To serve this endeavor, ITA has signed a number of strategic partnerships with a number of international and local IT companies such as Microsoft, HCL and Exceed IT Training Services. The aim of such partnerships is to provide a number of services including Omani youth training to help them to improve their skills and capabilities in different IT areas, Hassan Fida Allawati, Director General of Digital Society Development Division, said.
During the event, 14 developed IT projects and mobile apps by the graduates were showcased in addition to honoring 5 best mobile apps which were developed on one of the 3 mobile apps development platforms: Android, iOS & Hybrid as part of 3 months technical training. The best mobile apps are Herfa on iOS, developed by Meshaal Bin Ibrahim Almamari and on Android developed by Alshaima Bint Ahmed Alshibani and Zainab Bint Salih Alalawi. This app provides online training on handicrafts making with interactive images and tutorials.
Digital Print developed on iOS by Aida Bint Mohammad Albulushi and Ameena Bint Masood Alfahdi and Widad Bint Mohammad Alhabsi to provide a platform for printing on products or tools such as bags, CDs, t-shirts etc..
Syaqah app on android, developed by Zakariya Bin Nasser Albattashi, which is a database gathering all driving trainers in one place to make it easier to select a driver.
Baby Folder on Android, developed by Umaima Bint Ahmed Alkhurousi and Sumaiya Bint Ali Althuhli, which helps mothers to monitor their kids behavioral and mental development as well as vaccination schedules and SmartTown On Hybrid, developed by Said Bin Mohammad Alnakhaili, to showcase the municipal services.
These training programs are in line with ITA’s objective to develop the skills of Omani youth in various fields of ICT either as jobseekers or government employees through intensive training courses containing theoretical and practical aspects and development of interpersonal skills to facilitate jobseekers joining the job market and getting work experience.
